For the duration of eight minutes, the artist alternates between stillness and choreographed movement atop a slow-turning, custom-built platform. The work personifies a small world turning in its own orbit. The living body behaves like a celestial object glowing, breathing, and spinning, while being bound by something larger - The Heroine’s Journey.
The piece embodies the tension between the fluidity of emotion and the constancy of time. It draws on the phrase “As above, so below,” from the Emerald Tablet, suggesting a connection between sky and earth, light and reflection, motion and stillness, humans and the divine. The piece holds the artist in the space between presence and change.
